Are the youth still with Bobi Wine?
By Bittersweet Media | 25-02-2024
It's 2 years to 2026 and for presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, it can only mean one thing, it's campaign season again.
The Bobi Wine that will be campaigning this tie round is not the same Bobi Wine from the last presidential campaign. He is now flawed, he is no longer idealistic, his expectations are more tamed. In other words, he is a more realistic politician.
This is one of the hardest tasks a politician has to face, to transform from an idealistic often deluded leader with good intentions to a realistic leader that understands that there are rules to politics. That there are rules to the game.
Compared to the Bobi Wine from 2021 who was such a darling, the Bobi Wine of 2026 will have to fight for the most coveted job in Politics, the presidency of Uganda, with less praise than he enjoyed last time round. Forexample, it was so obvious that he was held in such high praise. One of the reasons for that is that he had not yet had enoug time to make mistakes. He has since stumbled on so many turns, something that first hand exposes you to the cruel nature of Ugandans.
Like Bobi tweeted sometime back asking God to help him know who his true friends are, he has since grown to understand that in Politics, true friends are rare and that trust is such a rare commodity. A lot of people will claim to believe in your cause but with an ulterior motive which is usually just using your wave as a stepping stone to some selfish need.
Then there is the issue of the youth wanting easy money. This gives the ruling government an advantage over Bobi because the state will always have more money than opposition.
And so the political advisors of Bobi Wine will have one of the hardest and steepest challenges come 2026.
