Controversial journalist Samson Kasumba made news recently when he marked his return to Twitter. Known for his provocative and often dunking social media posts, Kasumba would always leave Ugandans on Twitter polarized with some looking at him as a thinker but others looking at him as an attention seeking personality.

Kasumba had amassed over 700,000 followers on Twitter, boasting of one of the biggest accounts on Social Media in Uganda.

His troubles started when his account got hacked and his private messages got leaked out to the public. In the messages, he was actively asking for help of one million Ugandan shillings from a politician to finish his house. This wouldn't have been a big deal, but coming from a person like Kasumba, who was a short while before that posting tweets in which he articulated that fuel prices should keep sky rocketing so that poor people can get off the road, these leaked messages acted as ammunition for his haters.

The mockery he got from this was endless and it's said that it was too much for him to handle.

He now is back and seems less controversial, less provocative. He seems to be a new being entirely. Maybe he did some soul searching and has come to the conclusion that most tweeps come to after a while - social media wars take more out of you than winning them gives back.
